Snacks With 0 g Added Sugars: 7 Picks Checked Against the Label
These no added sugar snacks are for anyone who reads the Added Sugars line on a Nutrition Facts label and wants it to say 0 g. Every pick shows 0 g added sugars on its brand’s own label or product page, and one independent source shows the same for the same product. The list covers crunchy snacks, protein snacks and one add-in for meals. New to the label? Start with our guide to reading a Nutrition Facts label.
How we picked
We checked 24 snack and pantry products on Supercery. A product made the list only when the brand label or brand page and one independent source both showed 0 g added sugars. Independent sources are retailer listings or Open Food Facts, a crowd-sourced database of label entries; we skipped Amazon-owned stores. We give serving size and total sugars only where both sources agree, and we do not quote calories. Seven products qualified. We have not tasted or tested these products ourselves.
Added sugars versus total sugars
The FDA’s page on added sugars explains that added sugars are sugars put in during processing or packaged as such, such as table sugar, syrups and honey, while sugars found naturally in milk, fruits and vegetables are not counted as added. Total Sugars counts both kinds. So a snack can show 0 g added sugars and still list some total sugars, as the RXBAR below does, because its sugars come from dates. On the label, the added sugars amount sits indented under Total Sugars, starting with the word “Includes”.
Crunchy snacks
Biena Sea Salt Roasted Chickpeas
The Biena product page shows “Includes 0 Added Sugars” for a 1 oz (28 g) serving, and Wegmans’ listing shows 0 g added sugars too. These are roasted chickpeas seasoned with sea salt, for a crunchy snack in place of chips. Our roasted chickpea snack label guide walks through the serving size, fiber and oil line. The brand page gives no total sugars number, so we leave it out. See Biena Sea Salt Roasted Chickpeas.
SkinnyPop Original Popcorn
SkinnyPop’s product page shows “Includes 0g Added Sugar” for a 3 cup (28 g) serving, and the Open Food Facts entry lists 0 g added sugars and 0 g total sugars. It is ready-to-eat popcorn for a light, salty snack. Our popcorn label explainer covers the ingredient line and serving size. See SkinnyPop Original Popcorn.
Mary’s Gone Crackers Original
The Mary’s Gone Crackers nutrition panel shows “Includes 0g Added Sugars” for 12 crackers (30 g), and Manna Harvest’s listing shows the same, with 0 g total sugars. They are organic seed crackers that go with dips, cheese or soup. See Mary’s Gone Crackers Original.
Protein snacks
Chomps Original Beef Sticks
The Chomps nutrition panel shows “Includes 0g Added Sugars” for one 32 g (1.15 oz) stick, and the Open Food Facts entry lists 0 g added sugars and 0 g total sugars. They are grass-fed beef sticks for a savory snack you can carry. See Chomps Original Beef Sticks.
Wild Planet Sardines in Extra Virgin Olive Oil with Lemon
Wild Planet’s product page shows “Incl. 0g Added Sugars” for a 3 oz (85 g) serving, and Vitacost’s listing shows 0 g added sugars, with 0 g total sugars. Eat them on crackers or toast, or add them to a salad. Fish is a major allergen, so check the label if that matters to you. See Wild Planet Sardines with Lemon.
RXBAR Chocolate Sea Salt
The RXBAR product page shows “Includes 0 g Added Sugars” for one 52 g bar, and the Open Food Facts entry lists 0 g added sugars too. The bar still has 14 g total sugars, which come from dates, so it has no added sugars but is not a low-sugar snack. See RXBAR Chocolate Sea Salt.
An add-in for meals and snacks
Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts
Manitoba Harvest shows “Includes 0g Added Sugars” for 3 tbsp (30 g), and the Open Food Facts entry lists 0 g added sugars. These shelled hemp seeds go on oatmeal, yogurt and salads with no cooking. The two sources give different total sugars, so we leave that number out. See Manitoba Harvest Hemp Hearts.

FAQ
Does 0 g added sugars mean sugar-free?
No. Added sugars and total sugars are separate lines. A snack made with fruit, such as the date-based RXBAR, can list 0 g added sugars and still have sugars in the Total Sugars line. Look at both.
Why are some well-known snacks missing?
Several brands show 0 g added sugars on their own page, but we could not find an independent source that showed the same number in grams, so those stayed out for now. Others, such as some dark chocolate, nut bars and maple syrup, contain added sugars.
Is Open Food Facts a reliable source?
Open Food Facts is a crowd-sourced database where people enter what a package label says. We use it only as a second source next to the brand’s own label, never on its own.
Where do I find added sugars on the label?
It is the indented line under Total Sugars that starts with “Includes”. Our Nutrition Facts label guide walks through it with serving size and %DV.
