Kosher Snacks and Pantry Staples: 14 Picks With the Certification Checked
These kosher snacks, pantry staples and protein powders are for anyone who keeps kosher, shops for someone who does, or simply likes to see an agency’s mark on the package. The criterion is that the kosher claim is on the record: every pick is called kosher by its own brand, and a second, independent source shows the same claim. Where we could confirm which agency certifies the product, we name it; where we could not, we say so.
How we picked
We went through every product on Supercery tagged kosher and kept the ones where the brand’s product page, label or FAQ says kosher. For each, we looked for an independent record: the agency’s own directory where possible, otherwise a retailer listing or the NIH label database. Ten picks appear in the OU product directory, and we quote the directory entry for each. One brand names KOF-K, one label shows Triangle K, and two products are labeled kosher without an agency we could confirm. One tagged product stayed out: Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt, because “kosher salt” is a salt style and we found no certification claim from the brand. We have not tasted or tested these products ourselves.
What the OU symbols mean
The Orthodox Union explains its marks on its own symbols page. A plain OU means the product contains neither dairy nor meat and was not made on dairy or meat equipment. OU-D means the product is dairy: it contains a dairy ingredient or derivative, or was made on dairy equipment. OU-DE, per the same OU page, means the product was made on dairy equipment. If you keep kosher, the letter after the OU matters as much as the mark itself.

FAQ
What do OU-D and OU-DE mean?
According to the Orthodox Union, OU-D marks a dairy product, one that contains a dairy ingredient or derivative or was made on dairy equipment, while OU-DE means the product was made on dairy equipment. A plain OU means neither dairy nor meat. In this list, Simple Mills crackers are OU-D, and one Hu pack listing is OU-DE.
Why is Diamond Crystal Kosher Salt not on this list?
On that box, “kosher salt” is the product type, and we found no certification claim from the brand or an agency directory. If certification matters to you, look for an agency mark on the package rather than the words “kosher salt”.
How can I check a kosher claim myself?
Look for the agency’s symbol on the package, then search the agency’s directory, such as the OU product search. Directory entries can cover specific flavors or pack sizes, so match the exact product.
Are the protein powders here dairy-free?
Orgain is plant-based and NOW Sports is made from egg white, so neither contains milk as an ingredient. Read each label’s allergen and facility statements if you have a milk allergy. Talk to your doctor before starting a new supplement, especially if you are pregnant, nursing, take medication or have a health condition.
