Vegan Snacks and Pantry Staples: 10 Picks With the Label Claim

These vegan snacks and pantry staples are for anyone cooking or snacking without animal products who wants the claim on record. Every pick is called vegan by its own brand, and an independent source shows the same. Two picks are Certified Vegan, listed in the certifier’s own directory; the rest are brand claims backed by a retailer listing. For vegan protein powders and supplements, see our separate vegan supplements and protein powders list.

How we picked

We checked every snack and pantry product on Supercery for a vegan claim from the brand, then looked for one independent source that is not the brand and not an Amazon-owned store. We name a certifier only where its own directory lists the product. One labeled-vegan snack stayed out because the only independent support we found was a search snippet. We have not tasted or tested these products ourselves.

Certified Vegan versus a vegan label

According to Vegan Action, its Certified Vegan logo is for products that contain no animal products or byproducts and have not been tested on animals. A plain “vegan” line on a package is the brand’s own statement. Both can be accurate, but only the logo means an outside organization checked the product against its standard.

FAQ

What does the Certified Vegan logo mean?

Vegan Action says the logo marks products with no animal products or byproducts that have not been tested on animals. San-J tamari and SkinnyPop Original are in its directory.

Are vegan products allergen-free?

No. Vegan means no animal ingredients, but these picks can still contain soy, peanuts, tree nuts or other allergens, and some are made in shared facilities. Read each package.

How did you check each vegan claim?

For every pick we found the vegan claim on the brand’s own product page or label, then looked for the same claim on one independent page: the certifier’s directory for San-J and SkinnyPop, and a retailer listing for the rest. We skipped Amazon-owned stores. If the two sources disagreed or the independent page was only a search snippet, the product stayed out.

Why is a labeled-vegan snack missing?

Seapoint Farms Dry Roasted Edamame shows a vegan mark on its label, but the only independent listing we found was a search result we could not open, so it is not on this list yet. You can still find it in our high-protein snacks and non-GMO lists.

Where are the vegan protein powders?

They are in our vegan supplements and protein powders list, which covers plant protein, creatine and other supplements.
